We highly recommend Matt and his team as his training techniques and philosophy definitely changed our anxious and semi-aggressive 8 year old 125 pound German Sheppard.
Despite good boot camp training at an early age and continuous reinforcement, due to unfortunate attacks during our walks by irresponsible pet parents "unleashed dogs" Khoda became extremely anxious and aggressive towards people and others dogs, so it was difficult to ever take him on walks or have people over our house because we had to put him away in our rooms or introduce him to our friends or family a certain way in order for him to be fine with them and not fear a bite or aggression.
We needed help again. People would say, we want to pet him, he's such a beautiful dog, we want to love on him and it would break my heart to know, he was such a loving dog and deserved that but he needed that training to help him overcome the fear of people and other animals. So we called Matt. When my husband and I sat down with him and he explained his methods of training and then at the end when we picked Khoda up and saw how he was just so relaxed around the other animals I just could not believe it. I thought, well let's see how he does with a big crowed of people; let's host Christmas!
OMG! As people started walking in, he just sat there, relaxed, came up to everyone and asked for pets, didn't bark and interacted with all the company, no incidents. I was so relieved and beyond happy. I didn't think this was possible. I understand as a pet owner, we have the responsibility to know our pets limitations and we need to watch for signs and be mindful, we too need training 🙂 Thank you Matt. You are awesome and thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping our Khoda be his best version of himself and helping us understand our baby is not an aggressive dog but anxious baby that just needs redirection. Tame Dog Training is the best! Matt and his team were so helpful and insightful from start to finish. We brought our 7 month old Bernese Mountain Dog, Monty, to Tame because we simply could not gain control of him. He thought he ran the home and was constantly unruly in our apartment - biting, jumping, grabbing clothes and towels, etc. He bit my fiancé a couple of times, and developed separation anxiety to the point where we could not leave our apartment without him being loud and distressed in his kennel. We worked with a trainer for many months of his puppy stage (from 4 months to 7 months of age), and even though this individual had many years of experience, it was to no avail.
When we decided to call Matt after a friend recommended Tame, he helped walk us through the best program for Monty, and we sent him to Tame for 2.5 weeks for the Standard program. While it may seem like a pretty penny to pay for an animal's training, Matt and his team make it worth every dollar. Matt makes the whole experience very personal, and will answer any questions you may have with very in-depth responses. Not only did he walk us through everything prior to drop-off, but he also sat down with us for extended periods of time during the two in-person sessions and made it a point to clarify every detail for us. Perhaps the best part is that everything Matt taught us was so simple yet effective!
All three of us (myself, my fiancé, and Monty) are so much happier with our daily lives since we got our pup back 3 weeks ago. It is no longer a daily battle, and we can simply enjoy the relationship with our dog. Monty is still his fun-loving and goofy self, but responds to order and is much more responsive to both of us. Our multiple daily walks are relaxing and enjoyable now that Monty is so responsive and easily walks with a loose leash. He can be in his kennel without any fuss and responds to slight corrections so quickly and successfully. Who would've guessed that a rolled up 100% cotton "bonker" towel could be so effective 😂....kudos to Matt.
We will most definitely be taking advantage of Tame's exclusive boarding program many times throughout the year. We completely trust them with our dog, and could not ask for a better team of trainers to have as a resource. Thank you Matt and the rest of the Tame Team!!

Matt and his team did such an amazing job with our dog! We did the 17 day board and train program and Maverick came back a different dog! Matt also spent time with us going over the psychology of how dogs respond to training and it helped us learn so much on how to to continue to work with Mav when we got him back home from training. Mav is a male German shepherd who before Matt’s training program needed help with basic commands and some mildly aggressive behavior. We highly recommend the 17 day program for anyone who needs help with basic command training and help with aggression.

I can't say enough good things about this trainer. My Shollie rescue pup, Molly, went from being frightened of anything that moved, growling and nipping at strangers' ankles, and shaking with anxiety - to being the sweetest and most well behaved dog in just a couple of weeks. While she's still working through some anxiety, she's much more accepting of strangers and almost all of the aggression she showed is gone. Molly had just gotten out of training the week before Thanksgiving. I traveled with her back to my hometown where she met my parents, both of my brothers and their 8 children, and a couple of dogs. Molly was able to adjust to all of the commotion and the constant barrage of love from strangers in a big, scary, unfamiliar place. Thanks to Matt and his team because before using Tame's training service, I was seriously worried that she'd have to be locked up the whole time to keep her and everyone else safe. But she proved that she's come such a long way and getting more confident with each passing day.
When it comes down to it, Matt is very responsive and helpful through texts and calls before, during, and well-after the training to help me as an owner feel confident and advised on how to help Molly be successful. I couldn't have done it without Tame and it was worth every penny.

We are so thankful we found Matt and his team at Tame Dog Training! We got our Red Nose Pitbull Mix from a rescue when he was 6 months old and brought him in for the Standard training program when he was about 10 months old. From the first conversation with Matt, I was impressed by his philosophy towards training, really taking into account the psychology of the dog, how humans and dogs interact and the importance of relationship.
After the training program, the change in him was incredible! He listens much better, has reduced aggression, walks more calmly on leash, isn’t as phased by distractions and the “place” command has been amazing – we could not get him to do that on our own! We got weekly text updates with the most precious photos. I like that we got to go for a visit and human training a few days before the program was over, and then another human training when we picked him up. Matt definitely wanted to make sure we were prepared to continue the training at home to set us up for success.
The investment was worth every penny and we are forever grateful for the hours of training Tame saved us!

Matt and Team did a tremendous job with our 6 month old English Cream Golden Retriever, Brinkley. Prior to enrolling her in Tame we were fed up with the jumping, bitting, bad behavior on walks, slight food aggression, ... to the point I was on the fence about keeping her. Our busy lives simply didn't allow us to dedicate the time needed to properly train her ourselves. After two and a half weeks boarding at Tame, which was also a nice reset for us, we have a well trained dog that can easily fit into our busy household. We would highly recommend Tame and plan on using the boarding program going forward to reinforce the foundation they setup.

We had stumbled across Tame Dog Training online and I am so happy that we did. We sent our 7 month old pup away for the 4 week training course and she came back fully trained and listened to us so well. Matt really took the time to sit down with us before we dropped her off and talked with us about any and all concerns we had and made sure we were all on the same page about the course. The staff was amazing with our little girl, and Matt offers a follow up at your house where he comes and actually trains in your home which is awesome! Although we missed our pup, the staff & Matt sent daily pictures and videos to us so we were kept up to date with her improvements. We now use Tame Dog Training as a boarding place too for both of our dogs where the staff also does training while the dogs are there. I feel comfortable and happy dropping my dogs off here! Matt and his trainers were amazing!! I brought my 1 year old German Shepherd to him because she was showing signs of aggression and being too over protective when strangers approached me. She even had animal control called on us due to her being aggressive with a neighbor.
I did have her trained when she was 6 months with a positive reward based program which worked for obedience but it really wasn't enough for what my dog needed.
After training with Matt, I have been able to walk my dog only on her e-collar (included with a training package) in open areas with her responding very well and staying very close to me. She has not lunged at any bikes, cars, kids, or strangers at all. She had trouble with that before. Her temperament is definitely better, and she is less anxious when I am not around or have to step away.
Their training location itself was also great. Dogs had plenty of space to roam and train. When I came to pick her up after 2 weeks, she looked healthy and well and was able to show me what she learned right away. Matt and staff also sent me lots of updates and pictures about my dog while I was away. They were very responsive to all my questions. Worth the money and would definitely recommend!!!

Matt and the Tame Dog team were amazing! I sent my dog Kylo to the Standard Off-Leash training program and am so happy I did. Matt was always responsive to my texts throughout Kylo’s time there, and sent pictures of him to me as well, which eased my anxiety about having him be away for 17 days! The training materials were also extremely helpful. When I went in person to complete training sessions, Matt made sure that I was informed of Kylo’s training to date and felt comfortable practicing the techniques before starting my session with Kylo. Overall, Kylo’s behavior was greatly improved, his leash pulling was remedied and he does amazing off-leash now. Since getting Kylo home, Matt has still remained in contact and is always available to offer tips and continued assistance. One thing that Tame has stressed, and that I have found to hold true, is that training is a lifelong endeavor, but starting off with Tame is the right way to kick it all off! Forever thankful for Matt and the rest of the team!
