I mean...wow. to say Tame changed me and my dog's life would be an understatement. I have a 6.5 year old GSD who turned aggressive a few years ago. Bit people, attack barking at random people, chasing people down the street, etc., and no way to stop her. I was embarrassed and defeated trying to handle her on my own - and frankly, scared... I tried home trainers and other techniques but nothing was good enough. To put things in perspective, after a 3 week boot camp with Tame, I now live in an apartment with an elevator with my dog, and other people call her the best behaved dog in the building. I don't know what magic they do at Tame, but the clear methodology, psychology and consistency are nothing short of amazing. In addition, Matt counseled me on techniques and I even started crating my dog at 6.5 years old to ease her anxiety, and it has been a game changer. They are thorough even though they are extremely busy with a lot of dogs. They are busy for a reason! I will be taking my dog back every month for reinforcement and am so excited about it! 10/10 recommend!
We went to Matt when we were at our breaking point. We have a 3 year old husky lab who developed some resource guarding issues as well as aggression in the evenings when he was tired. He almost bit a few people so we were very afraid if we didn’t correct it we’d have to get rid of him. We decided to go with the board and stay program for 4 weeks. We saw a tremendous change in our dog. We no longer have him growling in the evenings at us and great with off leash training. The four weeks allowed his behavior to be re-set and no longer dealing with aggression or teeth flaring at us. We’re still working through additional things like dog-to-dog friendless and getting our dog comfortable with anyone petting him but Matt has been with us along the way. This program is more than training your dog but you as a handler as well. We learned things we were doing that were actually enabling the bad behavior. Grateful for Matt’s help and look forward to continue to learn and expand on new areas with our dog.
Matt and his team at Tame did an amazing job with our rescue dog Prince. They were extremely knowledgeable and responsive to any questions or concerns we had. We were struggling with our dog Prince with general listening, taking commands, leash walking and appropriate behavior around other dogs and people. Matt and his team were not only able to correct these behaviors seamlessly but gave us the education we needed to continue working with Prince. Sending our dog to Tame was one of our best decisions, he is a much better dog and listens so much better. We are looking forward to sending him to the next tier of training in the future, and will definitely be recommending Tame to anyone who needs training for their dogs.
Tame Dog Training worked wonders for our GSD puppy, Butters! We did the Standard Off-Leash program and boy was it worth it!! Butters can now consistently walk off-leash and is very responsive to commands. The training even includes a wireless collar package that is great for reinforcing training at home and in public. The owner is very responsive, knowledgeable, and has a clear passion for dog training. I highly recommend Tame Dog Training!

I can’t recommend Tame Dog Training enough. My 1-yr golden retriever, Charley, spent a week with Matt and his team in the puppy training program when he was 4 months old and then returned 5 months later for the 17-day off-leash program. If you truly want to enjoy your dog then you should seriously consider Tame Dog. I now take Charley with me everywhere and I consistently get comments about how well-behaved his is. Our walks are so much fun because Charley is trained to remain by my side. Matt’s training is not limited to the dogs, he trains you too! I’m now confident that I can modify any of Charley’s behaviors using Matt’s methods. The ROI on the investment is huge. I would say priceless.
A Well Rounded Dog, is a dog that listens, has manners, and knows there's a time to play and a time to relax. My success comes from teaching YOU, the owner, how to connect with your pup and foster a loving and respectful relationship. Whether you're starting brand new with a puppy and need some guidance to get it right, or have an older dog with behavioral challenges you can't seem to overcome. I am here to help!
We highly recommend Matt and his team as his training techniques and philosophy definitely changed our anxious and semi-aggressive 8 year old 125 pound German Sheppard. Despite good boot camp training at an early age and continuous reinforcement, due to unfortunate attacks during our walks by irresponsible pet parents "unleashed dogs" Khoda became extremely anxious and aggressive towards people and others dogs, so it was difficult to ever take him on walks or have people over our house because we had to put him away in our rooms or introduce him to our friends or family a certain way in order for him to be fine with them and not fear a bite or aggression. We needed help again. People would say, we want to pet him, he's such a beautiful dog, we want to love on him and it would break my heart to know, he was such a loving dog and deserved that but he needed that training to help him overcome the fear of people and other animals. So we called Matt. When my husband and I sat down with him and he explained his methods of training and then at the end when we picked Khoda up and saw how he was just so relaxed around the other animals I just could not believe it. I thought, well let's see how he does with a big crowed of people; let's host Christmas! OMG! As people started walking in, he just sat there, relaxed, came up to everyone and asked for pets, didn't bark and interacted with all the company, no incidents. I was so relieved and beyond happy. I didn't think this was possible. I understand as a pet owner, we have the responsibility to know our pets limitations and we need to watch for signs and be mindful, we too need training 🙂 Thank you Matt. You are awesome and thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping our Khoda be his best version of himself and helping us understand our baby is not an aggressive dog but anxious baby that just needs redirection. Well Khoda will be visiting you soon for Boarding so see you soon! THANK YOU AGAIN!!
I cannot thank Matt and his team enough for the transformation of my two pups. My 1.5yo 84lb rottie/shepherd and 4.5 yo 40lb shepherd mix girls went to Matt for a whole month. I had to do something because the younger (and much bigger) one was being aggressive towards the older one. Matt and his team did their magic. Not only there is no aggression, but they are absolutely obedient and respectful of me and each other. Now, just like with any dog training program - you HAVE to follow through. Dogs are going to test the boundaries all the time, so whatever Matt and the team taught them has to be practiced every day. Another thing - Matt took 45 minutes to speak with me before I decided to do it. He really cares on all levels about a wellbeing of you and your dog. Twice a week I got photos and written report about their progress, so that helped! And one of them always answered any questions I had throughout the week. I highly recommend this place! I’m amazed and actually speechless!!! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!!! Attached is a photo of my whole gang back at home!
We can't say enough about Matt and his training of our little Frenchie. He was so wired all day long and never would nap or just stay in one place. He chewed everything, pulled us all over the place when we took a walk and just barked all the time. After completing Matt's standard program he has shown so much progress in all of those areas. Now don't expect perfection as soon as you bring them home, you still need to work with him to reinforce what he learned with Matt and his group. But it is only for 5-10 minutes a day and Leon just bounces back to his training. I also love Matt's guarantee that anything they taught we can bring them back for some help if they are struggling with it to get him back to doing those things. Also we plan on using his boarding service so Leon can get a refresher while we are out of town. The area around Matt's house is very shaded so even in the hot summer the dogs had a place to work out of the sun. The main thing is we are confident that with the tools Matt has given us to work with we have a loving dog that people are excited to meet when they come over to our house. I highly recommend Matt and his training methods and would use him again if we were to add another dog to our family!
My boyfriend and I brought our 3 month old German Shepherd puppy to Matt at the right time. He was sweet and has a playful personality, but he was getting out of hand all ready at such a young age. A lot of training programs only focus on dogs a lot older and so we were happy that we actually saw that Tame offered a 2 week boarding course for those that were as young as 3 months old. This program aimed at building some important foundations that was much needed. Even though our pup knew all of the basic commands, he had some MAJOR puppy issues like biting. I was able to speak with Matt over the phone before we dropped off our little velociraptor and he immediately reassured me that we were not experiencing anything new. When the day came to drop the puppy off, we knew it was a great choice. Matt walked us around his house and kennel area while giving us a break down of what a typical day would like like for the dogs staying with him. Okay, so you want to know if my GSD is now like Lassie and will bring me my slippers every morning? Not quite, but he is a million times calmer and does not bite nearly as much as he once did. Of course he picked up a new trick ("Place") as well as became more confident. We honestly can't wait to bring the dog back for the more advance training program, that focuses more on obedience as well as walking off leash. UPDATE: Archer came back when he was 7 months to complete the 17-day off-leash training program and it was one of the best decisions we've could have made as dog owners. Archer had a lot of different issues the second time around than when he was 3 months old. He was definitely more confident but also a lot stronger where he would pull us on walks, run out the door, and bark at anything that looked weird or scary, including bath towels, house plants and of course every person and dog that walked by him. It was so bad that near the time he went in for his training we couldn't take him to dog friendly places anymore because he would just bark and growl at other dogs and little kids. Well, I'm glad to report that he no longer does this. It's now been about 3 months since he's come back from his training and I'm still impressed how well-behaved he is. We can now go to outdoor restaurants and bars and actually have a calm and quiet dog. I love people approaching him and commenting how sweet and calm he is. And one of the best parts about the off-leash program is that you can take your dog home and see the immediate changes for yourself. But then if you ever need a "tune-up" or if other issues arise, Matt will help you in the follow-up session. I absolutely recommend Matt and his team at Tame. He's not only incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to dogs, but also friendly and just a cool and approachable guy who's always willing to help out. I wish Tame all of the success in the future.
I left my golden doodle for his first daycare experience. He did great and staff was good too. Will be taking him back. My only concern was the smell in the place when you walk in and clung to my dog when we brought him home. I understand there are multiple animals but can something be done about it?
Impressive results from the puppy plan for our very energetic pup. She is calmer overall and crate trained completely. She knows a few useful commands: kennel up, place, down, go potty. Matt is extremely knowledgeable and clearly explains why dogs do what they do.
When a former trainer needed help, who do you call, TAME! For fun I used to help train working dogs, but our newly adopted 7 month old GSD/Mal mix was a challenge even for this veteran working dog owner. Zora is doing well and TAME totally saved our sanity!
They groomed my 2 Golden Doodles and they look amazing . With so many places closed I really needed them groomed. They did such a great job . Thank You so much. We are customers for life .! We did not have to go inside they did curb side drop off and pick up
My dog loves going to daycare here! Staff is very nice and the owner updates the facility on a regular basis. The grooming services are good too!
I can’t recommend Matt enough for the incredible job he did with my dog, Sky. After completing training with Matt and his team, Sky has shown remarkable improvement in so many areas. Sky’s recall and door manners are excellent now, making life at home so much easier. One of the biggest changes is how much Sky’s whining has decreased – he’s so much calmer and more relaxed. Walking him has also become a joy; he’s no longer aggressive and has significantly improved with leash pulling. On top of that, he consistently obeys basic commands like sit, down, stay, and no. What sets Matt apart is his ongoing support – once your dog is trained by him, you have the option to board with him in the future, where the training continues every time. It’s a fantastic way to reinforce everything Sky has learned. The pricing is reasonable for the quality of training provided, and the results speak for themselves. I’m grateful to Matt and his team for their dedication and patience with Sky. If you’re looking for a skilled and compassionate dog trainer, Matt is definitely the person to go to!
I was desperate to find someone who could train my little 5 year old Shih Tzu, Duffy, a rescue from a neighbor who was going to take this dog to the “pound”. Duffy’s vocal cords were cut to prevent barking in his first home, an apartment. He learned to bite to get his way. Duffy would have been put down at “the pound”. I could not let that happen. The bites were shocking and hurtful! The first trainer I tried changed Duffy’s behavior around her, but did not give me any tools or training to make a difference in our home. Finding Matt with Tame Dog Training was an Internet miracle. Our interview with Matt convinced me that Duffy and I would learn the boundaries and rules. Duffy boarded at Matt’s training program for two weeks. My anxiety was helped by the pictures and videos that Matt sent in his progress reports. Duffy still had a problem with my husband after the first stay. Matt’s one home visit corrected that. We have not had any problems since then. We have taken Duffy back for boarding when I have had to go out of town and felt so comfortable knowing Duffy was in good hands and getting more training. Duffy will never be a cuddle buddy, but he now shows his love and respect. This has changed our lives. We are a happy family.
We brought our Golden Retriever puppy to Tame Dog Training for 3 weeks. She was really bad on a leash and wasn't consistently following commands. When we got her back from Tame, she was like a new pup! We were really impressed with the results, as well as the time Matt spent with us to make sure we understood the process and his team's methodology. I would absolutely recommend Tame, as I already have to multiple friends!
Our new fur baby was full of energy that we just didn't know what to do with her. Shes a blue pit and i was unaware of how much energy pit bulls have. She chewed everything and ran a muck. My daughter and I were so stressed out and i was ready to throw in the towel. My daughter started to search for a good dog trainer and we came across Tame dog Training. Matt and his team were a life saver . We did the 10 day program and we did not recognized our 7 month old pup. She was a new dog. She knew her boundaries and was no longer running like crazy . We are now able to enjoy her without any issues. Matt and his team are amazing. We are planning to get another dog and you best believe we will be sending our new dog to Matt. Thanks Matt for an amazing job!
Matt and his team are incredible. We adopted a dog from a rescue and she came with some separation anxiety and did not know any commands. After 10 days with Matt, she is so much less anxious when we leave, she does great with her new commands and is doing so well on the leash! Matt is extremely knowledgeable about dogs and how they think and act, and he has been wonderful with following up as well to see how she is progressing at home. Through the whole process, from discussing what we wanted over the phone to picking up our pup and having an in depth session with him, everything was wonderful! It’s not often you get to work with someone so passionate and committed, but that is the experience you will get with Matt. We wish we could give him more than 5 stars!!
We are looking forward to sending him to the next tier of training in the future, and will definitely be recommending Tame to anyone who needs training for their dogs.
Sending our golden doodle to Matt and his team at Tame Dog Training has been the best investment we have made in our dog! We have now sent him through two of their courses: we sent him as a puppy, where they successfully taught him obedience fundamentals that allowed us to immediately break him of jumping, puppy biting, etc.. We had no hesitation to send him back at about 14 months old for more advanced training and learning boundaries after my wife and I had a baby. We have been very happy with the results and very strongly recommended it to anyone considering it. They also offer boarding to previous clients, which is a no brainer because they work on reviewing the concepts from the dog's initial training course(s) while they are there. Finally, I'll add that we are only one of many people I know that have sent their dog to tame dog training and the positive results are consistent across the board. Very highly recommended.
We had stumbled across Tame Dog Training online and I am so happy that we did. We sent our 7 month old pup away for the 4 week training course and she came back fully trained and listened to us so well. Matt really took the time to sit down with us before we dropped her off and talked with us about any and all concerns we had and made sure we were all on the same page about the course. The staff was amazing with our little girl, and Matt offers a follow up at your house where he comes and actually trains in your home which is awesome! Although we missed our pup, the staff & Matt sent daily pictures and videos to us so we were kept up to date with her improvements. We now use Tame Dog Training as a boarding place too for both of our dogs where the staff also does training while the dogs are there. I feel comfortable and happy dropping my dogs off here! Best dog training in Texas 🙂
I connected with TDT regarding my dog's fear-based aggression. I was at the point of being uncertain whether I could keep him and was also being told it would not be advisable to rehome him. Matt was amazingly helpful and provided me with insight that restored my hope. I was also in a time crunch as I am relocating and need to be able to safely board him within a few weeks. He was so accommodating and went above and beyond for us. I haven't even met him in person yet, but I would recommend him without hesitation.

Tame Dog Training is the best! Matt and his team were so helpful and insightful from start to finish. We brought our 7 month old Bernese Mountain Dog, Monty, to Tame because we simply could not gain control of him. He thought he ran the home and was constantly unruly in our apartment - biting, jumping, grabbing clothes and towels, etc. He bit my fiancé a couple of times, and developed separation anxiety to the point where we could not leave our apartment without him being loud and distressed in his kennel. We worked with a trainer for many months of his puppy stage (from 4 months to 7 months of age), and even though this individual had many years of experience, it was to no avail. When we decided to call Matt after a friend recommended Tame, he helped walk us through the best program for Monty, and we sent him to Tame for 2.5 weeks for the Standard program. While it may seem like a pretty penny to pay for an animal's training, Matt and his team make it worth every dollar. Matt makes the whole experience very personal, and will answer any questions you may have with very in-depth responses. Not only did he walk us through everything prior to drop-off, but he also sat down with us for extended periods of time during the two in-person sessions and made it a point to clarify every detail for us. Perhaps the best part is that everything Matt taught us was so simple yet effective! All three of us (myself, my fiancé, and Monty) are so much happier with our daily lives since we got our pup back 3 weeks ago. It is no longer a daily battle, and we can simply enjoy the relationship with our dog. Monty is still his fun-loving and goofy self, but responds to order and is much more responsive to both of us. Our multiple daily walks are relaxing and enjoyable now that Monty is so responsive and easily walks with a loose leash. He can be in his kennel without any fuss and responds to slight corrections so quickly and successfully. Who would've guessed that a rolled up 100% cotton "bonker" towel could be so effective ....kudos to Matt. We will most definitely be taking advantage of Tame's exclusive boarding program many times throughout the year. We completely trust them with our dog, and could not ask for a better team of trainers to have as a resource. Thank you Matt and the rest of the Tame Team!! - Tristan and Emily
Savannah, we're happy that your puppy training was successful! We're people-first and take education about training very seriously. We're happy to board your dogs anytime! Have a wonderful day 🙂
We adopted a GSD last year that is a big sweet heart but, she grew more and more aggressive to strangers and other dogs. Just vicious. We couldn't find a pet sitter, trainer, or trust her around anyone. Even when I dropped her off for training at Tame Dog the first day she was trying to attack the trainer but, within 2 minutes she was settled down and hasn't done that since. She won't even run after rabbits.

What can I say about Matt and team at Tame Dog Training? AMAZING! The response my English bulldog has now with a solid foundation is fantastic. For the first time I’ve been able to get my dog to lie down at night in his spot and not move. That’s just one of the many breakthroughs. Thanks y’all
Eric did a very good job with our rescue GSD mitigating some of her anxiety issues, and correcting some basic behavior issues around leash walking and reacting to other dogs. The training set a good foundation for us to continue our training at home. Eric listened to our needs and concerns to develop training that developed positive outcoms and desired results.
I been in TX for 4 months and this is my 2nd time boarding my pooch Chase for 3+nights. Everything went well. The staff is always polite, caring, and communicates well. Also, you do have access to cameras via the mobile app to see your dog on the playground during the day. That provides a lot of easement for us dog moms and dads. The grooming services did not disappoint. They groomed him well. 🙂 So far, so good! He was happy and I am too! I think Matt is Chase second home here in TX.
Matt and his team did such an amazing job with our dog! We did the 17 day board and train program and Maverick came back a different dog! Matt also spent time with us going over the psychology of how dogs respond to training and it helped us learn so much on how to to continue to work with Mav when we got him back home from training. Mav is a male German shepherd who before Matt’s training program needed help with basic commands and some mildly aggressive behavior. We highly recommend the 17 day program for anyone who needs help with basic command training and help with aggression.
Matt and his staff are awesome! My husband and I scheduled the 17 day program for both of our small dogs. Before training Sophie and Riley were barking at everything that moved, difficult to walk on a leash, had problems potty training and did not listen very well. Wow, what a difference the training made. Matt even helped to train my husband and I too. 😉 Riley and Sophie are so much better behaved. Our home life is much calmer and happier now! I highly recommend Tame Dog Training!

We had a great experience with Matt and Team after leaving our two pups here for 6 nights. The staff were always friendly and addressed any concerns I had. They were prompt to respond. The facility is very clean and having cameras is a great feature to check on your fur babies. I do wish there wasn't a extra fee for everything. I do feel like the Cameras should be included in each suite and stay at no additional charge. I would use them again in the future and I definitely would recommend.
Matt and Team did a tremendous job with our 6 month old English Cream Golden Retriever, Brinkley. Prior to enrolling her in Tame we were fed up with the jumping, bitting, bad behavior on walks, slight food aggression, ... to the point I was on the fence about keeping her. Our busy lives simply didn't allow us to dedicate the time needed to properly train her ourselves. After two and a half weeks boarding at Tame, which was also a nice reset for us, we have a well trained dog that can easily fit into our busy household. We would highly recommend Tame and plan on using the boarding program going forward to reinforce the foundation they setup.
Had an awesome experience with tame dog training! My 1 year old German Shepard has changed tremendously from 17 day boarding with them. I started to lose hope in her training until I met Matt and had him help me with how to train my dog! Such a great group of people who really care about your relationship with your dog. They are willing to address all the issues with your dog and teach you how to train your dog outside of their training. Very thankful to have found them!

What do I recommend about Tame Dog Training? All of it! We found Matt online and were intrigued by all the good reviews. We talked to him multiple times – he is a very patient person! He talked us through his process; answered our million questions; and gave us so much info before we even committed to booking with him. It’s clear that he has a passion for training dogs. All of his methods are well thought out, and all of the tools he uses are 100% safe for the dogs. Most are pretty simple too – which we liked because it makes them easier to use when you continue training at home. We decided to go with 1 week of training for Rico and 2 weeks for Hammond. Our issues were mainly the dogs not listening; running the fence; jumping on us; and pulling on leashes. We (us and Matt) really felt like we needed to establish a dominance in order. They had also gotten into a couple of scuffles that we wanted to stop before they escalated, mostly over toys and food but at times what we felt was unpredictable. From the time we dropped off Hammond we were extremely comfortable. Matt is obviously a dog lover. He’s patient with them, but stern enough that they are going to learn while they’re there and retain it afterwards. He really tailored both Hammond and Rico’s trainings to their personality. After 1 week we dropped off Rico and got to see Hammond’s progress, and were already impressed. When we came back to get Rico we were amazed – our dogs weren’t pulling on leashes; they were calm; they would stay in “place” for long periods of time; and even with treats and food thrown on the ground didn’t get assertive or upset with one another. Their behaviors were so much improved. We took them home along with all the equipment we got from Matt and have been really impressed. They went to training in June, so we have seen that what they learned stuck with them (as I write this in October). Matt never promises a “utopia” – which is totally fair. He can’t control the dogs or what we hold them to or don’t when we come home. But, he follows up incredibly well. He has contacted us multiple times to offer follow up sessions and make sure we are happy with the training we received – and we are! I highly recommend Tame Dog Training for your dog, whether you need a little training or something more extensive! Matt’s prices are what they are for a reason – he delivers.
Our dog, Louie, underwent the 31 day program and we are extremely happy with the results! He came to Matt and his team with a baseline that included reactivity to people and behavioral issues and what we got was a dog that is now super obedient, calm, and socialized. I know that leaving your dog can be stressful to strangers, but with our weekly updates and photos, we were kept at ease. The team not only cares about your pup, but emphasizes and takes the time to ensure you learn techniques and become knowledgeable in order to be successful after the board and train program. Because of the importance of teaching us these skills, we feel confident on moving forward and continuing to develop our relationship with our dog and his interactions/outlook on the world. I cannot recommend Tame Dog Training enough for improving both our lives and our dog's, too! It is such a well worth it investment!
We sent our 1 year old Goldendoodle, Melon, to Matt and his team, and we were genuinely impressed with the results. Before training, it felt like Melon had little to no obedience with us. He had even started to growl at times and was becoming more openly defiant, which was stressful and honestly a little scary. The biggest win for us wasn’t just the behavior change, it was learning so much about Melon and how to work with him in a way that actually made sense. I also really liked how the training was structured and easy to follow. The first session focused on foundational commands, the second built on that with more advanced work, and the third session will be done in our home to make sure Melon could generalize the skills in our everyday environment. Matt explained everything clearly, kept things practical, and made the process feel doable for us as owners. We had a really positive experience and would recommend him to anyone looking for real results and solid support.
I highly recommend Matt and his team at Tame Dog Training. Our 90 lb labradoodle, Cloud, was a wrecking ball around the house before training. We sent him to Matt for the Standard program and his behavior and obedience are so much better. Matt and his team equipped us with a strong framework to continue training at home through videos and in-person training sessions. The ongoing support has been great – Matt is incredibly responsive to our texts with training questions or new issues. We love the private boarding option and Cloud is always excited to get back into the Tame routine.
I've had the pleasure of knowing Matt a long time, and he is without a doubt one of the most passionate people I have ever met. He pours that energy into his dog training programs and takes great pride in making happy customers and well-behaved dogs. My 6 month old German Shorthaired Pointer emerged from the program as a completely new dog! He is gentle with my 3 young children and eager to learn every day. We quickly built upon the foundation that Tame Dog Training gave him. Perhaps the best news: they made it as simple as you could possibly imagine! (If you have a difficult dog, don't worry, Matt specializes in that.)
My son and I, tragically, lost our dog over the summer. I have never been without a dog. So we rescued, Memphis, a few weeks after. We were looking for an older, calmer dog. Memphis was neither. She is a Shepard/Lab mix and is FULL of energy. I have trained all of my dogs, but I just didn't have the time for training her. I called Matt, and was very nervous to leave our new girl with a stranger. He was AWESOME. He made me feel comfortable and sent photos and updates on her regularly. Although, the energy is still there, she now very obedient. She is so smart and has a way to go, but she gets better everyday! Matt continues to check in and has come to our house to ensure she is still on the right track! I will never train a dog again. They will always go see Matt! Highly recommended !!
I am not normally one to leave reviews, but I am so frustrated and disappointed with my experience here. I boarded my puppy for the 2 week puppy board and train and I was really excited to bring her here because of all the great reviews. Basically, my dog pretty much learned nothing here. I did try training with her consistently at home after I took her back from the board and train, but I could barely even get her to do a simple "sit". I did contact Matt with this issue to where he pretty much just said "Well dogs listen to each person differently. She just needs to get used to you training her" to which I'm wondering well I might as well just trained her myself! It also seems the dogs that they board spend a lot of time in their crates during the day, judging from whenever I came in and witnessed all the dogs just sitting in their crates and not being able to roam free. Also a huge thing -- this place does NOT do positive-reinforcement training. Personally, I did not seem to find this training effective and my dog just seems very scared and runs away with this method. In our follow-up sessions, I had to watch Matt literally HIT my little puppy and THROW OBJECTS at her in front of me as a form of discipline. It makes me really uncomfortable and sad for my puppy wondering how harsh they must have been to her behind closed doors when "disciplining" her like this. I'm really sad about this experience because Matt and his family seem very nice and I really wanted this to work out. I spent a lot of time calling with Matt, texting, and even coming back for a refresher session but none of this seemed to help my puppy with her training. I literally feel as if she learned nothing, except for maybe potty training although she has been having pretty consistent overnight accidents since her stay here, and that I might as well have thrown my $1500 in the garbage and just trained her myself since that is what it seems like I have done. I tried asking Matt for some type of compensation or partial refund, since I didn't receive the benefits of the program and I am unable to make the long drive to come back for refresher sessions and put in that large amount of time so often, but he refused to work with me on that. Since my puppy is basically at square one now and practically has no training, I have started taking classes with her at What a Great Dog and she has learned so much more after just one class there than her entire 2 weeks of boarding here. Unless you have an extra couple thousand dollars to throw away, I would suggest taking your dog elsewhere or just training your dog yourself (you're going to have to put in that time and effort anyways after taking them here) so that you won't regret your decision like me.
Matt and his team at Tame did an amazing job with our rescue dog Prince. They were extremely knowledgeable and responsive to any questions or concerns we had. We were struggling with our dog Prince with general listening, taking commands, leash walking and appropriate behavior around other dogs and people.
Matt is amazing! He is so knowledgeable and spends time understanding what is important to you. He is so patient and walked us through the process start to finish. We rescued our Duke at 9 mos old and although he was super sweet, he ran out the front door, jumped on visitors and was all over our furniture. He was able to break all of these habits in just a few weeks. Highly recommend!!!
What can I say about Matt and team at Tame Dog Training? AMAZING! The response my English bulldog has now with a solid foundation is fantastic. For the first time I’ve been able to get my dog to lie down at night in his spot and not move. That’s just one of the many breakthroughs. Thanks y’all
We went to Matt when we were at our breaking point.
